SALE OF CANTERBURY RACING STOCK.
LURLINE SOLD FOR 750 GUINEAS
CALUMNY 550 GUINEAS,
CHRISTCHURCH
This day. Mr Nosworthy's sale of racing stock took place to-day. Tbe Governor, Captain Fergusson, and the Superintendent wore present. The principal sales were Lurline (winner of the Canterbury Cup of 1572 and ' 1873), bought by Mr H. Redwood, of Nelson, for 750 guineas ; Calumny, purchased by Mr R, Ray, of Canterbury, for 550 guineas ; Defamer, by Mr L. Waller, of Canterbury, for 170 guineas ; Hatred, by Mr E. Ray, for 300 guineas; and Malice, by Mr 11. M. Campbell, of Canterbury, for 220 guineas. The total sum realised was about £3000.
