Jane Duke died in the hospital tinder chloroform on Friday evening. She was Buffering from cancer in the breast. An inquest was held, when the jury returned a verdict exonerating the hospitrl surgeons. The prospectus, of the Union Steamship Company has been issued ; capital £250,0 CJ, in 25,000 shares of £10 each. There are good names among the directory. It is started to meet the growing trade of the New Zealand coast.
A full prospectus of the Standard Company has been issued. They first issue 50.C00 shares.
The Corporation has mac to the Gas Company resp of the gas supplied. The Corporation-will re tion of buying up the Wal The Union Shipping Coi great favour.

The early-closing movement is spreading. The master-drapers agree to close on Saturday at six in the winter and at eight in tho summer.
Two valuable paintings of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert arrived by the Lady Jocelyn. They have been hung up in the Council Chamber.
The team to play against Auckland are in full practice. Mr Vogel is expected this week.
