The weather to-day is glorious and tho attendance on the course was very large. His Excellency the Governor, Lady Fergusson and suite, arrived just before the first race and were loudly cheered as they drove on to the course.
Tho first event was the DEIIBY STAKES, of loOsovs., with a sweepstake of lOsovs. Colts, Sst 101b ; fillies, and geldings, Sst 51b. Distance, .H miles. Twenty-five subscribers. Redwood's colt Papapa, 3 yra ... ... 1 H". Campbell's colt Castaway, 3 yrs ... 2 Dclainain's colt Tcmpleton, 3 yrs. ... 3 Webb's colt Revoke, 3 yrs. 0 Nosworthy's colt Traitor, 3 yrs. ... 0 Nosworthy's colt Defamer, 3 yrs. ... 0 Gillett's filly Dolly Varden, 3 yrs. ... 0 Webb's Revoke, colt, and Redwood's colt Teranga were scratched. Papapa was the favorite. Betting even, 2 to 1 against Traitor, 5 to 1 against Castaway. Papapa made the running, and was never headed, winning by half a length. Defamer and Traitor took second and third placo half-way round, when Castaway went up and took second place. On entering tho straight running she was two lengths astern. Sho closed up rapidly, but failed to get nearer than Papapa's quarter. Time, 2min. 40sec.
The supporters of Lurline offered last night to run against Papapa on Cup terms, but Papapa'a backers were not on.
