ARRIVAL OF THE CITY OF ADELAIDE.
AUSTRALIAN TELEGKRAMS,
By the arrival of the City of Adelaide, we have papers to the 25th ult., from Sydney. SYDNEY. January 25. There was very little doing in the import markets to-day. Breadstuff's were quiet but firm; small sales of flour at £12 10s to £14. Millers are reducing stocks in preference to paying the price demanded by holders of wheat and agents for Adelaide houses. Candles are firm, trade quantities have changed hands up to 10jd. There has been a better inquiry for cornsacks, and holders are asking higher prices. In liquors, the chief demand is for bulk ale, and sales have been made of leading brands at full rates. Messsrs Mort and Co. offered at auction, this afternoon, 2500 bales of wool, and disposed of a fair proportion of fleece at full rates: greasy lots were not in much demand. Scoured brought as high as 24<|d; fleece, 16d to 19fd ; greasy, 7^d to lid.
