Evening Star Office, Saturday afternoon,
Mr. R. Arthur' reports at his market day auction sale yesterday he sold fowls from Is. 4d. to 3s. each ; ducks, Is. 2d. to Is. (id. ; geese, 3s. 3d. to 4s. 6d. ; pigeons, lOd. ; rabbits, Is. 6d. ; onions, ljd. to 2d. per pound; potatoes, ss. to ss. 6d. per cwt. ; beef, 2d. to 2jd. per pound ; bacon, 2d. to 4£d. job lots ; Cheese, 2d. to 3d. ; raisins, 2jd. .jams, no brand, 4s. 7d. to 4s. 10d. per dozen. Furniture, &c, but little sold, in consequence of the arrival of the mail steamer Nebraska, with a large consignment of fruit, which was sold at the following prices :—Oranges, 12s. to 15s. per case , Seville, 13s. ; passion fruit, 6s. Gd.; lemons, 10s. 3d. to 10s. 9d. ; grapes, 3jd. to C|d. per pound ; pears, ljd. to 2d. ; plums, 3d. to 4jd- ; apples, 2£d. to 3d. ; Bay of Islands and Auckland pears, ljd. to 2d. per pound.
