By a majority of two, the Presbyterian Synod, after two days' consideration, roquested the Eev Mr Sutherland to resign his charge of the first church, and censured his conduct.

Judge Johnstone is appointed Commissioner under Whitaker and Lundon Act.
The resignation of McPherson, M.H.E. for the Waikato, gazetted. Dunedin-SouthlandArbitrationawarded £27,000 to contractors. Government to pay all legal costs. Original demand was £36,000.
