AMATEUR CONCERT, CITY HALL.
We would call the attention of our readers to the amateur concert which is to come off to-morrow evening at the City Hall. The object is a good one, and must commend itself to all, viz., in aid of the annual treat in connection with the Church of England Sunday Schools of the city and suburbs, which will be given to the children, as on former years, on [Regatta day in the Domain. We need not add, that the committees of the various schools, have made the most ample arrangements, so that the conceit may be one complete success. The leading amateurs of the city have been engaged. The programme has been selected, and fixed with the the greatest care, end the disappointment, through broken promises, and the placing upon the programme pieces merely thrown in to fill a gap—that we have noticed in amatour concerts of the past—have been carefully avoided ; and instead of trusting to the choice and taste of a single individual, the committees sat, and have carefully revised the whole, so that anything which could possibly mar the effect has bsen struck out; and with the programme which lies before us, and the^ names attached, we nntioipate such a treat as we have not had for some time past.
