RESURRECTIONISM.

To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sir,—Alow me to thank you for so promptly answering my letter of yesterday with reference to the death of Signor Donato. Inn very glad indeed that the Signor did not " shuffle off this mortal coil," as reported, and that we have such, a celebrity among us in the flesh. I beg to send you the Era Almanack, where you will find in page 3 the announcement m question, amidst a host of others, to show you it was the editor's mistake, not mine. In the same obituary you will find the names of Mrs Siddons, Farren, Malibran, Eeeley, Silvain, and other professionals; and as the editor has made a mistake in one case, it is probable , he has in othei-3. I hope to see some of "these blight particular stars" gracing our Auckland stage, havi ig first promptly contradicted the report of their own death. The editor's mistake was perfectly natural, seeing that a man and his wife are generally considered one. I had thought that this Signor Donato might be the son of his father ; and as, in the isle of Man, there is a family of the genus cat born without a tail, so there might be, in some other locality, a family of the genus man bOxU without a leg,—a hereditary misfortune that ran in the family,—or that Signor Donato, on his death-bed, had left to°a valued friend, as a fortune, his name, and his leg ! However, your explanation is very satisfactory to me, whatever it may be to the editor of the Era, whoai I've lost all faith in. But we arc all liable to be taken in by false statements, —for such is life, dear boys ! J\ Tow, fancy, this storm in a tea-cup is about a trine, for whether Signor Donato is the real Simon Pur 3or not, if he performs all he professes, he will receive his due meed of praise from all Auckland public ; if not, he won't have a leg to sti^nd on. I am, &?., An Old Stager. P.S.—" Cyraque," not " Cyvaque," was the locality mentioned ; but that was my fault, for I could never pronounce my r's plain.
