There is to be a special parade of the Volunteer Engineers this evening, and another is to be take place on the 24th. It is hoped that every member will contrive to be piisent, as these parades hive been specially c^'led by the Captain to prepare the men for tbeir fo.-mal inspection by the Inspector of Militia and Volunteers. Captain Dargaville, the commanding officer of this fine Company, lias, with Ins accustomed liberality offered threo nrizes to be competed for by Ms men. The first £7. the second £5, and the third £3, the first of which may be taken by the wh&er either in cash or in the shape of a silver cup. Donations of this kind by commanding officers go far to keep up that proper spirit of rivalry without which perfection cannot be attained, and it is to be hoped that the members of the corps will show their appreciation by sL'ct and punctupl attendance at parade, by doing everything in their power to promote volunteering interests.

A meeting of the officers and non-com-missioned officers of the Naval Cadets, attached to No. 2 Company Auckland Naval Volunteers was held last night at St. Matthews' School-room, Hobson street. under the prcsidence of Captain Andrew, for the purpose of framing and passing rules and regulations for the guidance of the Company. It was decided amongst other matters to punish all carlessness on the part of the lads in the management of their arms in the most severe manner. It was also resolved that all enrolled members notqualifyingthemselves immediately and by their own neglect thus losing the Government caoitatiou. should pay for their uniforms themselves.

The usual weekly parade of the Auckland Volunteer Artillery was held at Fort Britomart last evening under Capt Featon and Lieuts Isaacs and Powley. Lieutenant Isaacs exorcised the detachmont in various gun movements. A meeting was held afbr parade, and several matters discussed. It was announced that a match between members of the corps would take place on Tuesday week, when the prizes would be for thoso members who have not woq any previous prizes. Several gentlemen have contributed liberally towards the band fund.
