DOUBLE EXECUTION AT PENANG.

Thb Government having determined that the sentence of death passed at the last Criminal Sessions upon the two Malays found guilty of murder, should be carried out at the spot where the crime was committed, the Intan was chartered to take the unfortunate men to Neboag Tubal, under a strong escort of police, directed by Captain Speedy. The Intan, with her passengers on board, left Penang harbour on Wednesday, at 3 o'clock, and steamed to Bukit Tamboan at twenty minutes past 7 to take in firewood.- She left at a quarter to 8 o'clock for Nebong Tubal, where she arrived at 1 p.m., after having, through the inexperience of her pilot, grounded three times in the channel betweeen Batu Kawan Island and the mainland. The police landed with their prisoners, whom they at once marched to the place of execution. The sentence of death having been read to them by Mr. Symons, the unfortunate men, ■who were brothers, were asked whether they admitted the justice of their sentence, but they replied they were innocent men. After a short time the signal was given to the executioner, and the drop fell, and their bodies hanged a whole hour motionless. When the medical officer who was in attendance had reported that life was extinct, they were cut down and put in sacks, and, being laden with heavy weights, they were thrown overboard in deep water on the Intan's return journey to Penang, it having been ordered by the Government that the bodies were not to be given up to the friends of the deceased.
