December 29. Mr Childers is appointed AgentGeneral permanently. Mr Sullivan has retired from the southern province election, and Mr Hamilton walked over.
The Galoghly caso resulted in a verdict of murder against sonic person unknown.
There has been a forgery of £1 Union Bank notes, and a man named Jenucr is in custody for uttering. Betting is level on to-day's race between the boy Bedford and Pentecost, the New Zealand pedestrian. New Zealand produce is unchanged ; wheat is slightly firmer; flour is quoted at £12 10s to £12 15s.
