The survey of the -Wellington and Masterton line of railroad was commenced to-day, at Pipitea, by Messrs Brogden's staff". A General Government Gazette, published upon Saturday, contains the "oliowing items :—The province of "Wellington has been proclaimed a district within the meaning of Native Lands Frauds Prevention Act, 1871, together with a portion of the Province of Auckland, the Poverty Bay District, and the province of Hawkc's Bay. .
