THE VOLUNTEER CHRONICLE.
A rifle tnatoh took place yesterday at the range between fire members of the Viotoria Company, Rifle Battalion, selected as representatives at the forthcoming Colonial firing, and eight members selected from the Bame company. The five won by 10 points, haying scored 170. The ranges were three, four, and five hundred yards. The match was for a keg of ammunition. The following is the score:— Fire. Eight. The weather was very boisterous, and the firing took place under difficulties. The five highaet scores of the whole of the calvary of the colony will be those that will be selected to go Canterbury to take iwt in the General Cavalry prizes.
