Those shareholders who have neglected to pay their call in the Conquering Hero, G.M.Co., are warned that within 14 days from yesterday, their shares will be forfeited, unless the demand is complied with.
Tenders for conveyance of Bay of Islands coal, are required by the Caledonian G.M.O.
Faithful to the old principle. Pantomimes will be performed at both theatres during the Christmas holidays. The Prince of Wales Theatre will produce on a grand scale, " Harlequin Litttle Eed Riding Hood," with a host of aliases ; while at the Theatre Royal, an amusing pantomime will be produced, in which Mr Walter Dudley, the Grimaldi of thf Australian Colonies, will appear as Clown.
The popular place of amusement known as Cremorne, will not be deficient in amusements on Boxing Day. A programme of a variety of games is submitted to the public, and dancing in the large pavilion, to the music of an efficient band, is promised.
The Provincial Secretary requires tenders for conducting the Forry Service between Onehunga and Mangare, during the next year.
The milkmen of Auckland intend holding a meeting at Newton Hotel, to-morrow evening, to consider the advisability of raising the price of milk.
The transfer books of the 23rd of June Gold Mining Company, will be closed tomorrow at noon, when a dividend of one shilling per share will be payable.
The Provincial Government offices will be closed on Monday and Tuesday next, the 25th and 26th instant; also on Monday and Tuesday the Ist and 2nd January, 1872.
The result of the enquiry into the cause of the late fire in Chapel-street, cannot be considered satisfactory. The verdict of the jury being, " That the evidence did not disclose whether the fire originated in the foundry, or in the stable adjoining," to which a rider was appended, " That the jury disaprove of slightly constructed buildings, beinir used for foundry purposes, when they are situated in the midst of a dense population."
The right of charging for admission and letting seats on the grand stand, together with the use of booths and refreshment booths and stalls, and the right of catering for the public during the forthcoming Caledonian games, will bo sold by auction on Saturday next.
Persons are warned not to trespass on the Island of Motu Ihi.
A lecture will be given' to-morrow evening by the Rev W. J. Williams, in the Pitt street Wesleyan schoolroom, on " Martin Luther, the hero of the Reformation."
A grand negro concert will be given by the Albion Amateur Minstrels to-morrow evening at the Catholic Institute, Wellington street, in aid of the widow Mrs Owen, who lost her husband by the recent murder at Fiji.
At a meeting held last evening of the different Insurance Companies, it was resolved to appoint Mr S. H. Matthews as Superintendent of the Fire Brigade. There were several applications for the post. We understand that the Brigade will be remodelled with a view to increase its efficiency.
