AUCKLAND COLLEGE ATHLETIC SPORTS.
The second half yearly fete took place today in the Albert Barrack square, and a great number of races and other athletic sports were contested for with spirit by the pupils of the College. J. McVey Baird, Esq., the Principal of the College acted as judge, and J Pittar, Esq., as the starter. A great number of the friends and relatives of the youths were on the ground, and the scene was a very gay and animated one. In all there were 27 events on the programme, but only ten had been concludeed when our reporter left the ground. The results are as follows : — Maiden Plate, (silver cup), flat race, ] 00 yards, Whitaker, first prize. Boys under 10 years, flat race, 100 yards, A Keesing, first prize. All ages, (silver cup), flat race, half mile, (handicap), Dickey, first prize, Boys under 12 years, flat race, 150 yards Henderson, first prize. Boys under 14 years, flat race, 220 yards, Wynyard, first prize. Boys under 12 years, Siamese race, 150 yards, Sceats and Keesing, first prize. College Challenge Cup, open to all lads under 17 years, attending any public school in Auckland, flat race, half mile, Stichbury, first prize, Boys under 10 years, flat race, 150 yards, (handicap), A Keesing, first prize.
