ANNIVERSARY OF THE WESLEYAN SABBATH SCHOOLS.

Last evening an interesting gathering of the friends and teachers of the Auckland District Wesleyan Sabbath-schools was held in the Pitt-street school ■ room. There was a sumptuous tea provided; and, after the good tilings had been partakeu of, the public meeting was held. Mr. 3. L. Wilson occupied the chair ; an:i. in a i'ew appropriate remarks, called upon Mr. T. MeYlasfcer to read the report, which showed the several schools to bo in a most flourishing state. Some had been missed in the ranks in the past year, yet it was encouraging to know that they were removed from a world of grief and pain to one of eternal happiness and joy. Nurnbor of schools in the district, 6 ; scholars on the books, 952; average attendance, 680; teachers on the books, 100 ; average attendance, 83.—• Rev. J. Buller moved the adoption of the report. Their efforts were crowned in the past, and would bo, if faithful, crowned still further in tho future. —Rev. Atkin, Welsuoan, and Hemus addressed tho meeting.—We cannot forget the children. We have not listened for some time to sweeter singing. If thoy had sung all the evening one could not have felt wearied. Mr. Culpan presided at the harmonium, and Mr. Bridsou leader. The whole was a pleasnnt evening's entertainment. At the close, a vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs. Bridsou and Cuipan, also to the ladies who presided. The meeting closed with the benediction. -
