November 23.—Defence Minister received the following telegram from Captain Preece : —" Makt-tu.— Received a letter irom Major Ropata dated 20th. He sent Te Whu out with a few men; they brought in Kereru and Kereopa. Ropata, with a few men, is on Ins way to Wairoa to give Kereopa up to the authorities there.—Kereopa was the Rev. Mr. Volnner's murderer." —The contract for completion of the telegraph line frd-1 Kutikati to the Thames, is taken. Air obstaslea are removed. __, ,
