RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

[Before Thomas Beckham, Esq., X.M.] The usual weekly sittings of tho above Court was held this morning.

Undefended Casb3. —Moore t. Dodd. —No appearance of plaintiff. Case struck out, with costs for defendant, £4 15s.—Fort v. Eaton. —in this case judgment hid beeu obtained in this Court, with an order for payment of £1 por week, to be paid into Court. That order had not been , complied with. Plaintiff, therefore, applied for execution to issue, which was granted.

W. C. Wilson v. J. McVky Batrd. — Claim, £10 17s 6d. Mr. Bennett for plaintiff. Judgment for plaintiff. Mattiueson v. Ookcoraw. —Claim, £10. Mr. Brookfield for defendant. Adjourned until next Court-day.

.T. S. Macbablank v. l\ErNoLDß.—Claim £14 4s sd, for damage done to certain goods on board the Ballarat,—Mr. fleskoth for the plaintiff, Mr. Weston for the defendant.—This case was partly heard at the beginning of the week. The evidence went to'show'that a quantity of salt had been spoilt by sea-water. Several witnesses were examined. —Captain Clayton gave it us his opinion that tho salt was destroyed aolely fi'oin tho perils of the sea.—Captain Anderson gave similar testimony.—l'iie learned gentlemen having addressed the Court, judgment was reserved until next Court-da 7.
