In regard to the advertisement which appeared in our column a in relation to the sale of the s.s. Jane, we regret that an error has crept in with regard to the dale of the reception of tenders. They will be received by Messrs. S. Cochrane and Son up to noon of Monday, the 20th instant.
The time of holding the weekly parades of the Auckland Rifle Brigade has been altered to Tuesday morning, at >:ix o'clock, instead of the evening of the same day. This will promote early rising, and will, doubtless, prove a convenience to many Volunteers, who could not attend in the evenings.
We are informed that tho Auckland Artillery Volunteer Band will perform in the Albert Barracks to-morrow (Saturday), weather permitting, from 3 till 5 o'clock.
The marriage of Captain Reynolds, of tho barque Ballarat, with the daughter o1 * our worthy Postmaster, J. J. Fitzgibbon, Esq., was celebrated at tit. George's Church, jesterday, with great eclat. Such a galaxy of youth and beauty has seldom, if ever, been witness! don the Thames, The wedding party numbered some thirty persons j the bride looked really magnificent, being handsomely dressed, and with extreme taste and neatness, in a white satin dress, trimmed with orango blossoms. One of the lookers-on counted 45 single young ladies in the church, exclusive of the wedding party, plainly showing tho interest such an event excites among the fair sex.—Thames paper.

We are sorry to 'learn that Dr. A. G. Purchas, of Onchunga, met with an accident on Monday night last, which, t if immediate medical assistance had not been forthcoming, he must iiave paid the penalty with his life. It appears that tho Dr. had .been taking medicine for some time past, and, unfortu nately, the children most have been amusing themselves with the bottles, and, by some mistake, removed the one with the medicine, placing as a substitute a similar bottle containing chloroform. The doctor, ;is usual, drank Hit. supposed medicine without any examination oi the contents, when he had swallowed it, and on'y ju*'t, then, fornd out his mistake. He called his family around, and t-jld them that nothing could be done to save his life, but they, as a matter of course, were, prompt in supplying the be*-t medical advice than could be procured, and the u-und remedies applied, proved to be successful in counteracting the poison, and he is progressing as favourably as could be expected, and beiore long will be wholly restored to his usual health and spirits. We are happy to kn»w that the accident has not proved to be fatal, for we could ill lose such a man, who has been so useful in his ministerial and professional capacity amongst
