BAND OF HOPE ENTERTAINMENT.

Tub usual fortnightly meeting of the Newton East Band of Hope was held on Thursday evening in St. David's school. Tho evening being fine and moonlight, a largo company assembled which must encourage the promoters of these innocent amusements. Mr. Sturtevant occupied the chair. Several appropriate pieces were read and sm.g by children connected with the society. Songs and speeches rendered by Messrs. Reid, Page, Doull, Hood, Eobertson, Hamilton, and a company of ladies, who have come forward to assist the can.se of Temperance in this locality, contributed much to the evening's entertainment.
