DEPUTATION TO THE PROVINCIAL SECRETARY.
Yestbbd'»X morning a deputation, consisting of Mesara. Niccol, Crombie, and Maya, of the North Shore Highway Board, waited upon the Provincial Secretary, H. H. Lusk, Eaq., in reference to the formation of a new road from the achoolhouse, on the rise of the Flagstaff Hill, to the other end of the settlement, at the back. The reason why they require this road is on account of the present circuitous path which has to be taken by the children who go to this school. The land required is a Gk>vornmenfc reserve, and has already been applied for by the Auckland Harbour Board. The deputation asked for no pecuniary assistance. They promised, if the land were granted I hem, to plant the new road, when made, with trees, and otherwise improve it. The Provincial Secretary advised them to make a formal application in writing, stating their want. This they agreed to do, and after thauking Mr. Lusk, withdrew.
