ALUiGRD FOEGERY. OF TRANSFER.— David Georrje Smaile wns arraigned upon an indict ment charging him witli forging a transfer of shares. The prisoner, upon being challenged to plead, pleaded not guilty, and said that he had a witness, who was in all probability on his way from the Thames, and asked IT'S Honor to postpone the trial.—Mr. Brookfield said the person referred to was a man named Green, —also a witness for the prosecution. He would not object to an adjournment. A telegraph message had been received from Green, so that, he might be in town any time in the day.—His Honor expressed regret that he should have to dismiss the jury, and call them again on Saturday—a day when probably their business might bo more urgent, and upon which the Court did not usually sit. It was, however, of the greatest importance to the man at the bar that ho should have every possible means of muking his defence. His Honor adjourned the Court till 10 o'clock Saturday morning.
