VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The Erst weekly parade of the newly constituted Uifle Brigade is to be held at the Drill-shed this evening at the usual hour, when it is to be hoped that every member will be in attendance. After the parade a meeting of the different companies will l;e held, in order to make rules and regulations for the future guidance of r,hc Brigade. Kvery man ought to be prepared to take part in the discussion which is certain to arise, as the business is of tho utmost importance, and the future prosperity and efficiency of the corps will depend more than anything else on the measures that may be adopted for their internal government. It is hoped also that some steps may be taken towards the formation of a band, which is a mo-t important adjunct in tho efficiency of every \ rolunteer corps. The loss of the late Rifle Band has been a serious one, not only to the Volunteers themselves but to the townspeople, and we trust that an endeavour will be made to mi,!ply its place. Four companies of cadets attached lo the various public schools of the city, assembled to-day in the Albert Barracks, where they were officially inspected by Major Gordon, and put through a variety of battalion evolutions which were performed with an accuracy and precision that would put to shame many old established Volunteer bodies of men of mature years. The Inspecting Officer expressed himself highly satisfied with their proficiency.
