We have been requested to publish the fol lowing correspondence :—

" Y. M. Christian Association Booms, "August 19,1871.

" Sir, —At a meeting of the committeo of tho Auckland Total Abstinence Society, hold last evening, it was resolved : ' That the Rev. Warlow Davies be respectfully requested to publish his recent sermon relative to the conversion of water into wine. As various comments have been made upon that discourse, it is the unanimous opinion of the committee that were the sermon published it might lend the friends of the temperance cause to arriro at a correct decision upon its contents, and thus tend to remove much of the prejudice thereto which

now exists.'
