August J4.— Captain Preece exchanged shots with To Kooti on the 9th instant. In following liis tracks next day, he found a letter from Te Kooti, addressed to the Government, expressing a desire to bo left unmolested, and be allowed to live and plant. It was signed, " From your enemy, Turuki."
