ADELAIDE.
August 2.— The Government has advertised for tenders by the Bth instant, for another vessel of 500 tons to go to Port Darwin. August 3.—Mr. Huggins, of the firm of Huggins and Benham, solicitors, of Kapunda, received a sentence in the Insolvent Court of two years' imprisonment, and suspension for throe years, on the ground of fraudulent insolvency.—The Government intend obtaining a report about the rumoured intention of Victoria to1 exclude South Australian sheep.—Tdo Attorney-General stated that he is using every i exertion to induce the Victorian G-overnmeftt to take action against the absconding debtor nuisance.— A man named Looby is in custody for a murderous assault on his wife at Lydoch. She is not expected to live.—The Intercolonial Ereetrade Bill empowers the Governor to; arrange with any Australasian colony, except Western Australia, for reciprocal free-trade ; agreements to be made for a period not exceeding 10 years, terminable by mutual agreement, or by one year's notice on either side.— The police have received information from the blacks that a large mob of cattle is about 180 miles beyond Lake Hope, supposed to be one of the missing parties from Carpentaria.— In the Northern Territory action, the Government have appealed to the Privy Couucil.— No transactions in wheat. Buyers offer 5s 6d to 5s 6Jd ; sellers ask 5s 7d.
