AUCKLAND WHALING COMPANY.

A meeting of the shareholders in this company was held yesterday in the New Zealand Insurance building ; Mr. L. A. Nathan, Esq., in the chair.—The Chairman said that since the last meeting, held on the ?tk of July, the memorandum of association had been drawn up and signed. The provisional, or acting directors, had since that date. purchased the barque Albion for a sum of £2600. The captain, howevel', was not able to give a good title to the ship, and consequently it was arranged that the purchase money should be deposited in the Bank of New Zealand until such, time as a good title could be given. A period of twelve months was to be allowed for that purpose. Instructions had been given to Captain Clayton to fit the ship, and make her ready for sea. The gentlemen acting were of course acting only provisionally, and the principal business of the meeting would be to elect directors, who would have full powers to make such further arrangements as might be desirabl«.—Mr. J. S. Macfarlane thought that the appointment of directors might be deferred until another and more fully attended meeting were held. This project was progressing very steadily, and it seemed more desirable to wait a little, until the capital should be all in* which -would not take long. fl« moved, "That the appointment of directors should be deferred for the present."—Mr. Wardrop seconded the motion, .which, was carried. — This concluded the formal business of the meeting, but a conversation ensued upon several matters connected with the ship. _It ■was directed that an inventory of everything on board, gear, sails, &c, &c, should be handed over to Captain Clayton, who is now in charge. The usual vote of thank* -was passed to the chairman', and the meeting (separated.
