THE CHRISTMAS BOX G.M. CO., CORONANDEL.
An extraordinary meeting of tie shareholders of tho Christmas Box Gold Mining Company, Coromandel, was held on Thursday morning at the Mechanics' Institute. The object of the meeting was to increase the capital of the company, so as to leave a liability of only ben shillings per share. This is considered1 ample, as the mine has always paid its own expenses and well rewarded the original holders. The first ton of stuff crushed from it realised 19|. ozs, and since the general stuff tias averaged from .3 to 4 ozs., and it is expected the next crushing will fully equal if not exceed that. 30 or 40 tons are now going through the bastery, and is showing remarkably well on the plates. A letter just sent from the mine was read, in which it ■stated that good gold-bearing stone was being taken out daily. The rules for tho guidance of the company were read and passed, and Messrs. Eiohard Whitak'br, W. Q-. Harrison, Thomas Ritchie, J. O. dtovin, R. Coolie, and A. Devoir were elected directors. A meeting of tho directors was afterwards held.
