ACCIDENT IN THE CALE-
DONIAN,

3.5 p.m. . The Caledonian have taken out some .more specimens, and another lodgmeat of gold is just being made from the general stuff. Specimen crushing will commence on Monday. The Alburnia tailings were sold this morning. One hundred tons brought £100, the purchaser being Mr. Ferguson. An accident has occurred' in the Caledonian mine. When drilling out an unexploded shot, three of the men, named Tunner, Norton, &nd Turner were severely injured in the eyes and body. They have been conveyed to the Hospital. Bull's new machine was started' this morning on the old site of the Hokianga, Karaka. ' 3.15 p.m. It is quite true that the Caledonian have got quartz at the bottom of the main shaft. It is expected to make into a large reef, and if it cont^jns gold, there must be a great rise in shares.
