ARRIVAL OF THE FLIRT
The brigaiitine Flirt, Captain John McKenzie, loft Levuia nfc 3 p.m., on the afternoon on Tuesday, 18th July ; had very favorable -winds and. weather up to Friday 21st, •when the wind fell off and a very light breeze prevailed ; freshened again about 3 p.m., and continued very firorable until last night, when a heavy gale from N.N.E. set in, and hud to head-reach under close reefed fore and afi. canvas ; moderated at 5 a.m. this morning ■with heavy rain ; at 6 a.m. made all sail, and came to an anchor in Auckland harbour at 2 o'clock. In ballast. Passengers : Messrs. Hogg, Portham, Captain Nolan, Misses Nolan (2), Captain Kobinson, and 10 in the steerage.-
The b.B. City of Adelaide arrived at the I"ijis on the 9th instant, eight days from Sydney, the fastest on record. The s.s. Star of the South arrived in harbour last evening. She left Napier on Thursday evening last, and called at Hicks' Bay on Saturday, leaving there again on Sunday, and arriving at the Thames on Monday evening, •where she discharged 20 head cattle and 200 sheep j left Tararu yesterday morning, and arrived at the Tumaki yesterday afternoon, •where she. discharged . the remainder of her stock, and afterwards came up harbour. The Star experienced stiong W. winds throughout me passage. Passengers.—Messrs. Smith, Elley, and Sims, Mrs. Lees, and two others.
