AUCKLAND RIFLES.

MEETING OF NO. 3 COMPANY.

A WEIL-attended meeting of the members of No. 3 Company was heli at the Drill-shed last evening, Captain Clark in the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting ha/ving been confirmed,

Ensign Habeison moved, " That tho thanks of the company be tendered to Mr. Alex. McConnell, late Color-Sergeant to the company, in appreciation of his valuable services rendered."

The motion was seconded by Volunteer BoAE-DMAN, and carried unanimously.

Volunteer Chtjhton moved the following resolutions, which were seconded by Volunteer Macintosh, and carried unanimously—

" That it is expedient that No. 3 Company Bhould secede from the Auckland Regiment of Rifle Volunteers, for the purpose of forming a new battalion in conjunction with No. 2, 4, and 6 Companies." " That the officers of the company be authorised to confer with the officers of the named companies, and, in concert with them, to take all necessary steps for carrying out the foregoing resolution." " That the officers of the associated companies be requested to draw up a code of rules, to be submitted to a combined meeting of said companies as early as possible."

Carried unanimously. Proposed by Ensign Harrison, and seconded by Staff Sergt. Soal— "That with reference to two letters which appeared in the New Zealand Herald of the 18th and 20th instant, signed "An Old Volunteer," in which remarks are made reflecting on Major Q-ordon and on his management of the battalion, the members of No. 3 Company consider it right to make known their entire disapproval of those remarks as thoroughly uncalled for, and not supported by facts, and desire officer commanding the. Company to convey to Major Gordon tho thanks of the Company for the very efficient manner manner in whioh ho has conducted his command."

Carried unanimously, with cheers for Major Gordon.
