It has been truly amusing of late to note the daily recurrence of paragraphs in our contemporaries, the Morning and Evening Neios, touching the condition of this unfortunate thoroughfare, and which culminated, the other' day, in a pat hot ie leader, commeucing, " We wonder if tho Borough Council is aware there is such a thoroughfare as the Strand in the city? If not, we can tell them that thero # is," &c, &c. The City Council, in spite of all the warnings given, appear to be oblivious to the fact that-tho high and mighty editor and sub-editor (rolled into one) of our contemporary has to cross the Strand every day, on his way to the office, and backwards.
