ONEHUNGA.
The Onehunga Highway Board are making great improvements re-metalling tho roads, &c, but the want of a good footpath along the principal street is much folt, for pedestrians have either to walk on the newly-metalled road or else take to the mud alongside. We understand that petitions have been got up for this object, but it appears no notice has been taken of them.
We understand that a boy named Vauso was walking on the beach when ho perceived a tin match-box, and on opening it discovered the works of three watches, and on showing it to some bystanders they examined them, and to all appearance they had lately been either thrown in or lost,-as no' apparent injury was done to them. Whether the watches have been stolon, and their cases sold for old silver, and the works then thrown away to avoid discovery, it is hard to say.
At Onehunga, on Thursday afternoon, a boy, betwe.en eleven and twelve years of age, named Cleave, was severely torn by a dog, belonging to tho lato third engineer oF the Phosbo. Tho dog broke 'his chain, and attacking the child, tore his legs and thighs. Captain I'arnell shot the dog. The child is progressing favourably.
