SUPREME COURT.-Bank-ruptcy.

THURSDAY, JULY 13.

[Before Laugl-'in O'Brien, Esq., Reg^trar.] The usual sitting in Banki aptcy was held this morning, before Mr. Registrar O'Brien, when the following business was disposed of: —

Re James Haknett Pike.—Mr. Hughes appeared for tho bankrupt, who came up for his last examination.—From the Trustee's report, it appeared that tho bankrupt had been in business in Auckland as an hotelkeeper. His liabilities were sot down at £ 2D9. His assets were stated to consist chiefly of small book debts, which were irrecoverable, but it was also said, if the estate could be collected, there would be a surplus. No objection was made to the bankrupt's discbarge. The bankrupt passed his last examination, and received hi 9 discharge.

Re Thojias Hujie.—This bankrupt had been in partnership with a person named Albert Brown, who received his discharge last August. The bankrupt was away from Auckland at that time, and had no means of conveyance to town. The assets were Btated to be £165 ; liabilities, £216.—There was no objection to the bankrupt's discharge, and he received his final order.

Re G-eouoe Stkon&.—Mr. Keetley appeared for the bankrupt, who was described as a boatman. Tho bankrupt was formerly possessed of some land and timber at Mercury Bay, nnd also some property at Howick. The bankruptcy was attributed to depreciation of property..—No objection was ottered to the bankrupt's discharge, und he received his final order.

Ec C. T. Smith.—Thia bankrupt was a fruiterer in Queen-street, but the bankruptcy was attributed principally to liabilities incurred on account of mining speculation, added to depreciation of stock and trade. — There was no opposition, and the bank-upt was discharged.

Re John Jenkins.—Mr. Thome appeared for tho bankrupt, who was described a9 n flax-dresser at Meremerc. The bankrupt had shipped to London large consignments of flax, but owing to a fall in the market ho was iv heavy loser. The liabilities were set down at £158, and the assets at £330.—N0 objection wus made to the bankrupt's discharge, and be received his final order. ~

Re Thomas Slater.—Mr. Dignan applied for the discharge) of this bankrupt, who had not passed his last examination inconsequence of the final statement not having been filed within the required time.—Tho Act was now declared to hare been complied with, and tho bankrupt was discharged.

Re Isaac Philips.—A deed of nssignment in favor of all the creditors was declared to be completely executed. —This concluded the business.
