PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.
The re^open;nj; of the abdyo the£tre: lasfc 'evening was, notwithstanding the boisterous nature o'' the weather, an unqualified success. The audience, which.'Was tolerably numerous, although, not demon-strative;-seemed to enjoy Mrs. Ccntlivre's comedy of the " Busybody," and as each actress and actor appeared upon the sccno, a hearty welcome was accorded. Miss Colville was as charming" a» ever in her representation of Miranda, a charac-, ter which afforded ample scope for thabi piquancy and archness which so well become her, and, judging from appearances, she seems to have enjoyed her visit to the Thames. Mr. Hoskins, as Marplot, was full of sparkling hum6ur.,sfeid vivacity, and kept tho interest of the piece from flagging. Messrs.* Jones, Hydos, Kyan, Booth, and Clinton, sustained the other i characters in &\ mannor which evinced that the piece had been carefully studied and rehearsed. Miss Flora Ansteacl, Miss Jessie Raymond, and Mrs. B. N. Jones also sustained characters in tho piece, and contributed materially to i+g success. The farce of •" The Fast Tfraia," which followed,' and'in which Mr. Hoskins sustains the character of a fast-train high-pressure express Yankee, was most enjoyable. It is capitally con-,, structed, and" as a contemporary vety justly observes, is alone worth all the money paid at the doors to see. To'attempt to give any idea of this comically absurd character by description would be futile. Those who care to enjoy a heartylaugh should see Mi". Hoskins as Jack Delaware ; it is a finished performance, full of fun, without a particle of vulgarity. We aro glad to see the Prince of Wales company once more, and as long as pieces continue to be produced as they ' night,we augur a liberal continuance of public support.# To night " The,. Bella's Stratagem," Which* was "so * severely' criticised at the ■'Thames, will be produced, followed by the farco we have alluded to. '""",*
