STREET ACCIDENT.

A veey narrow escape from a serious accident occurred last night about eight o'clock, near the foot of Wellesley-street. There are two dangerous sloughs so located, that in avoiding Scylla, one is almost sure to fall into Charybdis. A Hansom cab was coming down the street, and cabby did his utmost to steer correctly, hut into the hole went the cab, and out flew Jehu from his perch, head foremost. He stuck to his reins like a man, though stunned and bewildered, and so saved, perhaps, a more serious accident of a collision in the crowds of Queenstreet. We hope that some member of the City Council will be hurt by one of these holes, as their existence jin such an important street, and such a critical part •fit, is a disgrace.
