CORRESPONDENCE.

[We are not responsible for our Correspondents' opinions.]

To the Editor of the EviNiNa Stab.

Sib, —I was so much annoyed at reading Mr. Philips's letter in your last evening's issue, that I corrected it in the Cross and Herald this morning in rather strong language. I find I have thereby caused Mr. Philips much pain, and as he is a gentleman j who, I believe, is endeavouring to fill a most onerous position to the best of his ability, I shall be glad if you will allow me to express! my sorrow at having, perhaps, too harshly condemned his error.—l am, &c, i B. Tonkß. I June 29, 1871. »
