A Good Excuse.—ln the Court of (Jommon Pleas, on April. 17, one of the<\ gentlemen summoned s upon jury appealed to his lordship, and said that he was sanitary inspector of the Strand Union, in which district small-pox was still prevalent. Hi* duty was to visit places where patients were, or had been, to remove Tinfeoi ed clothes, and do other sanitary work.of that kind: He submitted that the performance of this duty was inconsistent with his sitting in the jury-box. His lordship thought ao tpo, and . exuusecl, his further attendance. The juryman then retired, and although the Court was crowded he had, no difiioulty in making hit exit. •
