Justices.]

DktjnkennesS.—Two persons were punished in the usual manner for this offence,

Vagbanoy.—Mory Howley, one of tho above, was also, as a vagrant, sent 3 months to gaol. »

Desertion.—G. Waller was charged with deserting from H.M.S. Rcsario. Remanded for eight days, and meantime was ordered to be sent on board any of Her Majesty's ships arriving.

Laeoeny. -Janies Keano was charged with, having stolon bacon to tho value of 303.—Case remanded till Monday. Threatening LANGUAGE.—EIiza Hughes wasbrought up for threatening to tako the life of Eliza Harper.—Mr. Joy, appearing for the prosecutor, stated that defendant had just come out of gaol, where she had been imprisoned for a similar offence.—Complainant deposed to the circumstances, and William Armstrong corroborated her statement, generally.—Defendant called .a witness, whose testimony only went to show the unneighborly relations existing, between the parties.— Defendant was bound over in one Burety of £10, to keep the peace for a fortnight. Labceky.—W. Costellp and John Pepper were charged .with stealing a pair of Wellington boots from .Mf. We^tpbahl.—Prosecutor deposed to having lost the boots.—-B. Live, assistant to Neumagen and Moses, deposed to defendants haying come to the shop, and Pepper produced the pair of boots produced, and offered to pledge them.—Samuel »JQusten deposed to Coßtello having come to his place and offered the boots for 65., saying he had made them himself. I lent him 3b., and ho left the boots. Gave the boots to Det^tiyj Jeffrey.—Detective Jeffrey deposed to having arrested the two prisoners on the evening of the 13th, when they werp together, and coming from the direction of last • witness's house. They denied all knowledge'of the boots. On taking them to the station, Pepper stated that he had., seen Costello steal the boots.—Sentenced to be imprisoned each for a month.
