iMjoirarDiNa Act.—William Bowden, for allowing a goat to stray, was fined 5s and costs.
Smttgglikgk—Frank Antonie was charged with a breach of the Customs Act by landing tobacco without the duty being paid. On the application of Mr. Joy, who appeared for defendant, the case was adjourned until Thursday next, bail being allowed, himself in £150,' and with two sureties of £75 each.
Vagrant Act.—William Burton was charged with imposing upon a Mr. Dalhayhad by misrepresenting facts. John JJethebridge Dalhayhad, accountant in the Bank of New South Wales, deposed: The prisoner came to my residence on the 6th June. I saw that he was in reduced circumstances, from his conduct. He appeared to be an honest man, and a sincere Christian. I supplied ' him with board and lodging for a fortnight, when he told me that he had a situation offered if he coald obtain suitable clothes. I gave him an order on Mr. Rattray for clothing to the amount of £'/, and £1 in cash. I did not see him afterwards, but from information received I gave notice of his conduct to the police.—The Bench said that this case did not come within the limits of the Act, and dismissed it. This was all the business before the Court.
