Mr. Newman's Eeport:—The share market commenced with a brisk demand for Caledonian and Thames shares at advanced rates. My sales comprise Caledonian, £170, £173 to £174, ex div.; Thames, £36, ex div. Very little doing in other shares.
Mr. J. Tonson G-arlick reports sales this day :—Caledonian, £172 10s to £175; Thames, £35, £35 10s, £36 ; Tookey, £29, held for £30; Poverty and Charleston, £8; Shotover, 8s : Alburnia, £12 15s.' Thames in demand at £36.
