If The brigantine Hercules sails for Newcastle Ijj to-day. J I The s.s. Star of the South is announced to (1 sail for Napier to-morrow. f| H.M.S.S. Rosario, Captain Challis, arrived J in harbour yesterday afternoon from Port I Denison, which place sho left on the 7th inst. j Light S.E. and E.N.E. winds were experienced throughout. Made the Cavalier Island on Saturday, and from thence steamed into port. The Rosario visited Cape York previous to leaving Bowen, and came down the passage inside the Barrier reefs. On the 20th ult, when at anchor, a signal of distress was observed on a small rocky island. The •vessel got up steam and proceeded to the island, where she found and rescued Captain Brown and seven of the crew of the schooner Black Dog, of Sydney, which had been wrecked on the Al Reef, in the vicinity of the Hope Island, on the 16th ultimo. The shipwrecked crew, when taken off, were nearly starving; they were landed at Port Denison.

The s.s. James Paterson was to leave Sydney i about the 26th instant for this port.

The ship Excelsior was to sail from London for Auckland early in April, and was to be followed by the Countess of Kintore.
