The libel case, Hayes v. the Proprietors of Punch, was heard to-day, when the jury returned a verdict for the defendants.— At the Criminal Court, Samuel Lee and William Purvis were convicted of forgery, and remanded for sentence.—At a public meeting I held to-day, it was resolved to support a shipmasters' exchangeat the ChamberofCommerce. —The body of a respectably dressed man was found to-day in VVooloomooloo Bay. The clothing was marked " William Laidley," and the body bore the appearance of having been some time in the water.—Mr. Frith, pianoforte tuner, Castlereagh-street, committed suicide last night by cutting his throat.—The weather is again unsettled.—The steamer Platypus met with an accident to-day in the Parramata River, and sank.—The establishment of an academy of art is progressing satisfactorily. —A large tract of metalliferous sand has been discovered on the coast to the north of the Clarence River,
