ARRIVAL OF THE HERO.
This favorite steamer arrived in harbour this morning from Sydney, bringing the English mail, via Suez. She also brings a full cargo and seventy-seven passengers. Captain Logan reports :—The Hero left Sydney and cleared the Heads at 5.15 p.m. on the 20th ins! ant ; rounded the North Cape at 3.15 p.m. on the 26th, and arrived in harbour at 10.25 a.m. on the 27th. She experienced a fresh southerly breeze, which gradually worked round is, the eastward, and increased to a gale, with heavy squalls of wind and rain, and very heavy sea, which continued until the evening of the 23rd; the weathws then gradually moderated, and so continued. Easterly winds prevailed throughout the pat-: sage, and fine, steady weather after the gala abated.
Passengers. — From Melbourne—Cabin : Mr. and Mrs. Dewar and family (six) ; Mr., Mrs., and Aliss Stone ; Mr. and Mrs. Cobley and servant; Messrs. Duggan, Messrs. War drop, Rogan, A. Smart, J. M. McLachlan, J. Batemau, and nine in the steerage. From Sydney—Cabin: Mr. and Mrs. Owen and the Misses Owen (two) ; Miss Gray, Mrs. and Miss Gi'ierson, Mr. E. Bennett and Master Bennett, Messrs. Joseph Bennett, N. Walker, J. D. Hill, Bell, G. Thorne, and thirty-throe in the steerage.
