May 12.—The Legislative Council haa signified its intention of altering the tariff, so as to allow a drawback in iavour of colonial manufacturers.—Claridge has been acquitted, and Griffin has been sentenced to death for the murder of Namburckra.—Sugars are firmer.—The following are the winners at the races : —Handicap—Lottery, 1; Baron, 2 ; Clifden, 3.
