INQUEST.—THIS DAY.

An inquest was held this afternoon at the Mechanics' House of Call on the body of a child named Harriett Lombard. A jury having been sworn in, of which Mr. J. C. Stott was chosen chairman, EHen Lombard, the child's mother, deposed : I reside in a lane off Chancery street; the deceased was 12 months o} d ? n last; I had several glasses of ale during the afternoon, and went to lay down and fell asleep. I was sober. The child wa9 with me, on my left arm. She wns quite healthy and had not been weaned. At about 10 minutes to 7 I nwoko. The child was then quite cold but not dead. I ran to a neighbour, and sent for Dr. Kendordine.—Mrs. Hart and Dr. Kenderdine are being examined as we go to press.
