NATIVE LANDS COURT.

[Before His Honor F. D. Fenton, Esq., Chief Judge, and Wiremu Hikairo, Native Assessor.] The Court sat to-day for the purpose of settling the form of order, which had been under consideration, iv respect of the claims to the foreshore of the Thames. Kauweranga Mud Fiats.—Mr. McCormick appeared for the Crown. Mr. Hesketh for the claimants.—The evidence had been taken some time back, in which several natives preferred a claim to the land, on the ground that it had been formerly used as a fishing ground by their ancestoi-s, who lived there, and put up -various structures. The Court now settled the form of order for the certificate of title. It ordered that the certificate of title be issued, to tho exclusive right of fishing upon these grounds and the use for the purposes of fishing, whether with stake, net, or otherwise, of the foreshore of Kauweranga. The Court also, on the application of Mr. MacUormick, for tho Crown, declared its intention of recommending a restriction upon tho alienability of the right from tho natives, so as to renderjit inalienable except to Her Majesty, heir heirs and successors, or to the Governor of New Zealand for the time being. This form of certificate, with the accompanying restriction, will apply to all cases of claims preferred to the foreshore of the Thames district. The Court then adjourned
