ORPHAN HOME, PAKNELL. The annual meeting in connection with this most interesting institution was held last night, at the City Hall. The Superintendent presided, and Mr. Pierce, the honorary secretary, read the report, which detailed a very satisfactory state ofaffairs. The expenditure for the year had been £969 2s. 9d.; the receipts, including the balance from the previous year, and the bounty of the Provincial Government, amounted to £1202 15s. Bd., leaving a balance to the credit of the institution of £233 12s. lid. The average number of children in the Home during the year has been 55, and the average cost per child has been £15 3s. The inmates have been very healthy, and their education as well as health ]>.as apparently been carefully attended to. After the adoption of the report a committee for the year was appointed, consisting of Messrs. Doonin, J. W. Lewis, 1?. B. Lusk, R. Lusk, A. Hose, and W. McKinstry ; and Messrs. Thorne and Batger, auditors.
