THE CURE
[FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
The p.s. Lady; Bowen is just leaving for Auckland, aud, in the absence of telegraph communication, I forward you the latest news by letter. 1 he Caledonian is really better than ever. The reef is increasing in size, and the gold visible throughout. Shares have been bought up readily at £100. There will be no difficulty in lodging from 12,000 13,000 ozs. by Saturday night, and I expect the dividend to be the same as last. The new reef in the Manukau is looking splendid, and over five ouuees to the ton is expected. It is believed that the reef will be found in the Cure ground, and shares have been enquired for. Several parcels have sold at Bs. to 10s. The find in the Star of the South is not so good as was reported. The specimen takeii out is about 5 lbs. weight, not very rich.
The new manager in the Alburnia is turning out very good stone, some nice specimens being met with occasionally. The crushing looks well for a good return. The Eallarat and Rising Sun is looking splendid, and a handsome return is certain. The Inverness crushing is still going on, and looks well for two ounce 8 to the ton. The Nonpariel have had a good crushing. Retorting will commence on Friday.
