Justices.]
Drunkenness. —Two drunkards were punished in the usual manner.
Dkunk and Disoedeely.—Kate MeManus and Mary Robinson were each fined 20s and costs or to be imprisoned 48 hours.
Vageancy.—Bridget Curtis, charged with beinsz; an idle and disorderly person, was sent, to gaol for a fortnight. Letitia Hughes, an old offender, and Ann Paulgrave were imprisoned for three months. Richard Jones, on the evidence of Detective Ternahan, was proved to be an idle and disorderly person, and to hav^been caught ou the previous day in the act of stealing, and was sentenced to a similar penalty.
Assault.—The adjourned case of assault in which Donald Stewart, master of the Onward, was charged by Eliza, a native of Bau, with continued assaults, and cruelty on the high seas. Messrs. Bes-eridge and Brookfield for the prosecution; Mr. Tyler appeared and asked for any adjournment for eight days, on the grounds of the absence of a material witness. After considerable debate between counsel the application was allowed, and defendant was bound over to appear in eight days, in his own bond for £200 and two sureties of £100 each.
